وفي دراسته عن صورة النبي الكريم في الكتابات الاستشراقية ناقش تانلي بول عدة قضايا منها (فكرة محمد عن الإله)
ويعتقد أن محمداً كان يعتقد اعتقاداً راسخاً في نفسه أنه رسول يتلقى الوحي، وأن مفهومه عن الألوهية ليس وحياً بل مفهوم خاص لا يتجاوز ما يفهمه العقل السامي (الساميون هم: ينسبون إلى سام بن نوح عليه السلام، ويشار إليهم عادة بالشعوب التي تعيش في شبه الجزيرة العربية، وفي بلاد ما بين النهرين (العراق القديم)، وفي منطقة سوريا (سكان سوريا ولبنان وفلسطين)) دائماً أن الله قادر على كل شيء، وهو على كل شيء عليم، ولا يظلم الناس في شيء، وأما القدرة فهي من أهم صفاته السامية، ولكنها دائماً مقترنة بالرحمة والمغفرة. وبفضل هذا الفهم، تمكن محمد من "إيجاد الشكل الوحيد للتوحيد الذي يناسب جميع الطوائف الكبرى في العالم الشرقي"، لأن المسيحية لم تكن قادرة أبدًا على السيطرة على الشرق بسبب رؤيتها الثالوثية لله.
الرد على الشبهة
بهذه الشبهة يزعم المستشرق تانلي بول أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذو ذكاء خارق لأنه جعل الشرقيين يعبدون إلهاً بلا تثليث، وذلك ببساطة لأن الشرقيين لا يقبلون عقيدة التثليث. والرد على ذلك يأتي من خلال عدة نقاط:
1- كثير من النصارى الشرقيين يقولون بأن الله ثلاثة
ولا يعترض عليهم أحد من الشرقيين غير المسيحيين علي دينهم في شيء، ولم يتحكم عليهم بقية الشرقيون غير النصاري بالعقيدة التوحيدية.
2- الشهادة علي وجود الله
قال تعالى
شهد الله أنه لا إله إلا هو والملائكة وأولو العلم قائما بالقسط لا إله إلا هو العزيز الحكيم
هل من الممكن أن يأتي أحد عبقري بمثل هذه الآية؟ الآية تخبرنا أن هناك شهود على وحدانية الله تعالى في هذا الكون وهم ثلاثة أنواع
1- يشهد الله تعالى لنفسه أنه لا إله إلا هو
2- الملائكة وهم أقرب الكائنات إلى الله تعالى
3- أولوا العلم
والعلماء ليسوا كلهم يجمعهم مجال واحد مثل الفزياء الكونية، بل هناك علماء نفس وعلماء شخصية ، وعلماء فزياء وعلماء في الطب التشخيصي وغير ذلك مما افرزته الحياة عبر القرون المنصرمة، الأهم .. يمكنك تصفح هذه المدونة العلمية عن تحدث الإسلام في مجالات عدة بطريقة علمية بحتة لا يدخل فيها دغدغة المشاعر أو التحدث عن الجنة أو النار كسلاح مسلط علي الرأس لتفقد القدرة علي التفكير ، وستجد أن المجالات التي تحدث عنها القرآن - بالرغم من اننا لم نغطها جميعا - إلا أنها غطت أكبر المجالات الخاصة بحياة الإنسان - جنس الإنسان بالرغم من طوله أو عرضه أو لونه أو لغته أو دينه ، وذلك مصداقاً لآية جاءت في القرآن
قال تعالي
﴿ سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ﴾ [ فصلت: 53]
وهذه الآية تُشير إلي ان آيات الله الدالة علي وجوده سبحانه وتعالي ، ليست في الكون ، ما يسميه الغرب " الطبيعة الأم هي التي تفعل) لا بل بدلاً من ذلك الإنسان نفسه، وإن علماء النفس وعلماء الشخصية ليومنا هذا لم يكتشفوا كل مكنونات النفس البشرية فهي معقدة للغاية
كملخص
محمد صلي الله عليه وسلم كان مجرد عبد ، وإن كان عبقري وهذا لم يعرف عنه بحال من الأحوال ، فهو صلي الله عليه وسلم مجرد رسول لا يصل إلي الإله أو وصل لفكرة الإله بالفكر الدنيوي المستنير، وندل علي ذلك بالتالي:
أ - ما هي العلوم الدنيوية السائدة في تلك الآونة من التاريخ التي وجد فيها محمد كالفزياء النووية التي وصل بعض العلماء علي وجود الله بها مثل الجزيئات التي اطلق عليها علماء الفزياء (جزيئات الرب ) لأنها تثبت أن الرب موجود
ب- محمد لم يسافر خارج الجزيرة العربية إلا مرتين للتجارة مع عمه ابو طالب (الكافر) وفي المرتين كان مشغول بالتجارة ولم يتحدث إلا في التجارة مطلقا - بتواتر الأحاديث عن هذه السفريات
ج - في زمننا هذا العباقرة هي من يرون الأشياء العادية التي يراها الناس كلهم عادية، هم يرونها من منظور آخر لم يتحدث عنه أحد، ويربطون أحداث لا ترتبط ببعضها البعض، هم يربطونها بجسر مخترع من عقولهم النيرة، الحقيقة مع حبنا لمحمد صلي الله عليه وسلم إلا أنه لم يتحدث ولم نعرف عنه قبل البعثة المحمدية ونزول القرآن عليه أنه أتي بمثل ما أتي به نيوتن مثلاً، ظاهرة الجاذبية الأرضية، بسبب تافه جداً أنه استظل بشجرة فشاهد ما لم يشاهده ملايين من جلسوا يستظلون بأشجار.
د - كان معروف عن محمداً صلي الله عليه وسلم قبل البعثة أنه يتحنث ويتعبد للإله الحق في غار حراء وكانت السيدة خديجة تزوده بالطعام والشراب ليذهب للتأمل في ملكوت الأرض ورؤية السماء صافية من الأصوات والأحداث الدنيوية: أقصد: أن التأمل يحتاج إلي غرفة هادئة أو مكان مفتوح تحت السماء واهم شيء هدوء شديد وكأنه يسمع بقلب مفتوح للكون من حوله بعيد عن صخب البشر ، وما تعلم عن جبل فيه غار بليل أو نهار ، وحيد به لا يتحدث عن أحد، الشاهد: أنه في تلك الفترة وهي ليست بالقصيرة ولا بالطويلة من حياة محمد: إلا أنه لم يذكر لنا أو يذكر لنا المؤرخون أي صفات عن هذا الإله الذي كان يعبده ولا كيف يمكن الناس في الجزيرة العربية يعبدون هذا الإله مثله.
ه - نحن ايضا نعلم أن العباقرة في ميادين شتي في هذه الحياة، منهم من هو صانع سلام ومنهم من هو مخترع شيء في الفزياء أو الطب أو الأدب أو العلوم الإنسانية أو غير ذلك، ولم نسمع عن محمداً كان من الذين يحفظون الشعر ويعرف بعقله الراجح في دار الندوة أو أنه يناظر بالشعر، الشعراء أو غير ذلك، وقد كانوا معرفون بالإسم، فقد كانوا يخافون من بطش عمر بن الخطاب - مع حفظ الألقاب - وكانوا يعرفون لأبو بكر هيبته كتاجر مرموق يعرف الأنساب، وعرف مصعب بن عمير واشتهر قبل الإسلام: بالشاب الغني ذو الرائحة الطيبة ذو العقل الراجح ، وعرف عن ورقة بن نوفل أنه ذو علم من علم أهل الكتب المقدسة قبل الإسلام، الشاهد: لو كان محمداً عبقري لشهد الجميع علي ذلك في مجتمع قبلي منغلق علي نفسه قبل الإسلام، ولم يكن محمداً قبل الإسلام صغير بل كان يبلغ من العمر 40 عام، وكما قلنا من قبل أنه لم يخرج من مكة إلا مرتين وكان منشغلا بالتجارة وعرف عنه أنه الصادق الأمين، فلو كان عبقرياً أو يحل المشاكل المعضلة أو غير ذلك لعرف عنه ذلك ، وهو مالم يعرف في كتب التاريخ ابدا
فهل يحق للمستشرقين أن يقولوا أن الإله فكرة محمد العبقري؟ ما رأيك أنت؟

In his study of the image of the Prophet Muhammad in Orientalist writings, Tanley Paul discussed several issues, including Muhammad's concept of God.
He believes that Muhammad firmly believed that he was a messenger receiving revelation, and that his concept of divinity was not a revelation, but rather a private concept that did not go beyond the understanding of the Semitic mind. (Semites are descended from Shem, son of Noah, peace be upon him, and are usually referred to as the people living in the Arabian Peninsula, Mesopotamia (ancient Iraq), and the Syrian region (the inhabitants of Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine). He always believed that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and does not wrong people in anything. Power is one of His most important sublime attributes, but it is always coupled with mercy and forgiveness. Thanks to this understanding, Muhammad was able to "create the only form of monotheism that would be compatible with all the major sects in the Eastern world," because Christianity was never able to dominate the East due to its trinitarian view of God.
To response to the Suspicion
With this suspicion, the Orientalist Tanley Paul claims that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) possessed extraordinary intelligence because he made Easterners worship a God without a trinity, simply because Easterners do not accept the doctrine of the Trinity. The response to this comes from several points:
1- Many Eastern Christians say that God is three, and no Eastern non-Christians object to their religion in any way, and the rest of the Eastern non-Christians did not impose their monotheistic doctrine on them.
2- God Almighty said
شهد الله أنه لا إله إلا هو والملائكة وأولو العلم قائما بالقسط لا إله إلا هو العزيز الحكيم
"God bears witness that there is no god but Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge - maintaining justice. There is no god but Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise." Is it possible for a genius to come up with a verse like this? The verse tells us that there are three types of witnesses to the Oneness of God in this universe.
1. God Almighty bears witness to Himself that there is no god but Him
2. The angels, who are the closest creatures to God Almighty
3- People of knowledge
The scientists are not all united by one field, such as cosmic physics. Rather, there are psychologists, personality scientists, physicists, diagnostic medical scientists, and other fields that life has produced over the past centuries. Most importantly, you can browse this scientific blog about how Islam speaks about various fields in a purely scientific manner, without involving emotional stimulation or talking about heaven or hell as a weapon aimed at the head to deprive one of one's ability to think. You will find that the fields discussed in the Qur'an—although we did not cover all of them—cover the largest areas related to human life—the human race, regardless of height, width, color, language, or religion. This is in accordance with a verse in the Qur'an.
God Almighty said
﴿ سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ﴾ [ فصلت: 53]
“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient for your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?” (Fussilat: 53). This verse indicates that God’s signs proving His existence, glory be to Him, are not in the universe, what the West calls “Mother Nature,” but rather in man himself. Psychologists and personality scientists to this day have not yet discovered all the secrets of the human psyche, which is extremely complex.
In summary,
Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was merely a servant, even if he was a genius, and this is not known about him in any way. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was merely a messenger who did not reach God or attain the concept of God through enlightened worldly thought. We can prove this by the following:
A - What were the worldly sciences prevalent at the time in history in which Muhammad existed, such as nuclear physics, which some scientists used to prove the existence of God, or the particles that physicists call "God particles," because they prove that God exists?
B - Muhammad only traveled outside the Arabian Peninsula twice, to trade with his uncle Abu Talib (the infidel). Both times, he was busy with trade, and he never spoke about anything other than trade—according to the numerous hadiths about these travels.
C - In our time, geniuses are those who see ordinary things that everyone else sees as ordinary. They see them from a different perspective that no one has discussed. They connect unrelated events, connecting them with a bridge invented by their enlightened minds. The truth is, despite our love for Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he never spoke, and we never knew about him before like that before The mission of Muhammad and the revelation of the Qur'an to him brought something similar to what Newton brought, for example, the phenomenon of gravity, for a very trivial reason: he took shelter under a tree and witnessed something that millions of others who had sat in the shade of trees had never seen.
D - It was known that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, before his mission, would seclude himself and worship the True God in the Cave of Hira. Lady Khadija would provide him with food and drink so he could meditate on the Kingdom of the Earth and see the sky clear of worldly sounds and events. I mean, meditation requires a quiet room or an open space under the sky, and most importantly, extreme quiet, as if listening with an open heart to the universe around him, far from the hustle and bustle of people. What is known about a mountain with a cave, day or night, alone in it, not speaking to anyone? The evidence is that during that period, which was neither short nor long, of Muhammad's life, he, nor did historians, mention any attributes of the god he worshipped, nor how people in the Arabian Peninsula could worship such a god.
E - We also know that geniuses in various fields in this life, some of them are peacemakers and some of them are inventors of something in physics, medicine, literature, humanities or other, and we have not heard of Muhammad who was one of those who memorized poetry and was known for his sound mind in Dar al-Nadwa or that he debated poetry, poets or other, and they were known by name, as they feared the brutality of Omar bin al-Khattab - while preserving the titles - and they knew Abu Bakr’s prestige as a prestigious merchant who knew the genealogies, and Mus’ab bin Umair was known and famous before Islam: as the rich young man with the good smell and the sound mind, and it was known about Waraqa bin Nawfal that he had knowledge of the knowledge of the people of the holy books before Islam, the witness: if Muhammad was a genius, everyone would have testified to that in a tribal society that was closed in on itself before Islam, and Muhammad was not young before Islam, but was 40 years old, and as we said before, he did not leave Mecca except twice and was busy with trade and was known to be honest and trustworthy, so if he was A genius or solves difficult problems or otherwise, he would have been known for that, and it is something that has never been known in history books
